.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 204 PM CDT Sun Jun 9 2024

As of 2 PM Sunday afternoon, the thunderstorms from last night and
this morning have pushed well-east of the forecast area. Dry
conditions are expected for the remainder of the day. Cloud cover
has largely diminished with temperatures reaching the mid to upper
70s. Surface ridging will slide into the central Plains tonight into
Monday morning. Recent rainfall, small dew point depressions, and
light winds should allow for patchy fog formation across much of
the forecast area tonight into Monday morning.

Shortwave, midlevel ridging will slide through the area Monday,
yielding mostly sunny skies and dry conditions. Temperatures will
reach the low 80s during the afternoon. A northern stream shortwave
trough will slide across the northern Plains late Monday into
Tuesday morning, shunting a weak cold front towards the forecast
area. While a stray shower/storm is possible Tuesday morning, most
areas should remain dry. For Tuesday and beyond, longwave ridging
will build across the Rockies and central Plains, resulting in a
warming trend and mostly dry conditions. Temperatures on Wednesday
will reach the 90s across central KS with 80s elsewhere. The 90s
become widespread Thursday into the weekend. Temperatures may even
touch 100 degrees Thursday and Friday afternoons across central and
south central KS. Humidity will also be on the increase late this
week with dew points nearing the 70 degree mark. Coupling the hot
temperatures and the increased humidity will create heat index
values ranging from 95 to 105 Thursday-Friday afternoons and
possibly into next weekend. Rain chances may return next weekend
as a surface trough axis sags into the region, stay tuned.

.AVIATION /18Z TAFS THROUGH 18Z MONDAY/...
Issued at 1228 PM CDT Sun Jun 9 2024

Residual clouds from the overnight MCS are gradually moving off
to the south as northeasterly winds usher in high pressure. Any
CIGS below 020 will gradually dissipate by 20z. Winds will
remain northeasterly overnight, turning southeasterly Monday
afternoon. Conditions through then primarily VFR.

.AVIATION /00Z TAFS THROUGH 00Z TUESDAY/...
Issued at 1138 PM CDT Sun Jun 9 2024

Aviation concerns are expected to remain on the low side through
the next 24 hours.

Surface high stretches through the Northern and Central Plains
with a stationary front down across north/central TX. Surface
high will shift east on Mon which will allow winds to come
around to the southeast by the afternoon hours. Confidence
remains high that VFR conditions will remain in place.
