.SHORT TERM /THROUGH WEDNESDAY/...
Issued at 310 PM CDT Tue Jun 4 2024

For highs on Wednesday, have temperatures reaching 90
degrees across the southwest as the thermal ridge pushes into the
area bring WAA and increasing temperatures across southwest Nebraska
into the southern Sandhills. There will be a weak cold front that
will move into northern Nebraska by early afternoon and thus have
kept temperatures a little cooler, only in the low 80s. The front
will eventually move its way southward across the entire CWA and
cool temperatures for Thursday. Winds are expected to be breezy
Wednesday with confidence increasing that winds could be sustained
at 20 to 25 mph, with gust of 30 mph or greater across most of the
forecast area. That being said, do have higher confidence that areas
across north central Nebraska will see the strongest wind gust and
could approach gust of 35 mph or possibly even stronger in the
afternoon.

.LONG TERM /WEDNESDAY NIGHT THROUGH TUESDAY/...
Issued at 310 PM CDT Tue Jun 4 2024

The weak cold front that moved through on Wednesday will
bring slightly cooler temperatures to the area on Thursday, keeping
high temperatures in the lower 80s. This will be short lived however
as high pressure begins to spread eastward. Next chance for
precipitation arrives in the form of thunderstorms Friday evening.
At this time widespread thunderstorms are not expected, generally
more isolated to scattered. The greatest potential for thunderstorm
development will generally be south of HWY 2, although there could
be storms further north, the chances are lower, keeping the best
chances south, where the better dewpoints will exist, dewpoints in
the upper 50s. Generally expect storms to develop off the high
terrain and move east. At this time severe potential remains
uncertain. On Saturday a weak front will move into the area and keep
temperatures cooler with highs in the mid 70s to low 80s. There is
the potential for more scattered showers and thunderstorms on
Saturday, during the day into the early evening. Sunday a trof will
move into the area, keeping the cooler airmass across the area with
temperatures remaining in the mid 70s to low 80s.
