Area Forecast Discussion...CORRECTED
National Weather Service Missoula MT
621 AM MDT Wed Jun 5 2024

.DISCUSSION...A ridge of high pressure will build over the
western United States for the remainder of the work week into
Saturday. This ridge will bring warm and dry conditions to the
Northern Rockies. Temperatures for Friday and Saturday will be in
the 80s and low 90s for valley locations. Riggins, Idaho has a
50-60% chance of having a temperature greater than 95 degrees on
Saturday. These temperatures will be 15-20 degrees above seasonal
averages, take for instance the normal temperature for Missoula is
71F on Saturday but our current forecast is 91F.

Showers and thunderstorms develop on Sunday as a cold front
briefly squashes the high pressure ridge. A strong storm cannot be
ruled out for Clearwater, Idaho, or Lemhi Counties.

If Saturday afternoon you`re enjoying the warm weather and
thinking "I want more of this", you might be in luck. 81 percent
of model solutions have a similar high pressure ridge rebuilding
Monday, with 19 percent of them indicating the ridge quickly
moving east as another system sweeps onshore by Tuesday or
Wednesday (11-12 June).

.AVIATION...Breezy conditions will remain at area terminals
through early morning. Cloud cover decreases and winds abate
during the day as strong high pressure builds over the region.
