265 FZNT32 KNHC 130753 OFFN21 Marine Weather HF Voice Broadcast NWS National Hurricane Center Miami, FL 353 AM EDT Thu Jun 13 2024 Marine Weather HF Voice Broadcast for the Gulf of Mexico Seas given as significant wave height, which is the average height of the highest 1/3 of the waves. Individual waves may be more than twice the significant wave height. Synopsis for the Gulf of Mexico .SYNOPSIS...A trough extends southwestward from an elongated area of weak low pressure near the east coast of Florida to near Sarasota, Florida and to the northern Yucatan Peninsula. Scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms are southeast of the trough impacting most of the southeastern Gulf waters and waters just offshore the northern Yucatan Peninsula. The trough is expected to gradually weaken through late Fri while the low pressure moves northeastward to offshore of the southeastern U.S. Looking ahead, a broad area of low pressure is forecast to form over the southwestern Gulf of Mexico this weekend. Environmental conditions appear conducive for gradual development of this system and a tropical depression could form during the early or middle part of next week while it moves slowly westward or west-northwestward. Increasing winds and building seas are expected with this system. Gulf of Mexico N of 26N W of 87W .TODAY...Variable winds less than 10 kt, becoming E less than 10 kt in the afternoon.
