Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop during the mid to late afternoon hours today, with activity potentially lingering into the evening hours before dissipating later this evening. Severe thunderstorms are not anticipated, but a briefly strong storm will be possible, with the main threats being briefly gusty winds of around 40 mph, briefly heavy downpours, and lightning. Hot temperatures will prevail, with temperatures rising above 90 degrees around noon and reaching the mid to upper 90s during the afternoon hours, with maximum heat index values climbing to around 105.
