Fire Weather Planning Forecast FOR S Cntrl and Sern Colorado
National Weather Service Pueblo Co
249 AM MDT Wed Jun 12 2024

.Discussion...

Critical fire weather conditions are not anticipated due to fuels,
although winds and heat will be ramping up for Sunday and Monday
which may help to start the drying process for fuels.

There will be some isolated showers and thunderstorms later this
afternoon and through the evening, mainly over the higher terrain.

Thursday will be even drier and much hotter, with some record heat
possible over the plains as high temperatures approach the 105
degree mark for some locations within the Lower Arkansas River
Valley.

Chances of precipitation with widespread showers and thunderstorms
will be likely on Friday as a potent disturbance moves over the
district, with a good chance of a wetting rain for most locations.
It will be notably cooler as well.

It will dry out on Saturday and remain slightly cooler, but then
will begin to warm back up on Sunday through the early part of next
week. On Sunday it will be mostly dry, but then chances of
thunderstorms will increase going into the early part of next week,
especially over the far eastern plains.

Smoke dispersion will be generally Very Good across the valleys and
plains, and Excellent across the higher elevations today, then
become Poor tonight, returning to being Very Good to Excellent
across the district again tomorrow.

--- thunderstorms imply strong gusty and erratic winds ---
