Rangeland Fire Danger Statement
National Weather Service Aberdeen SD
316 AM CST Wed Nov 26 2025

.DISCUSSION...

Strong northwest winds will continue over northeastern South Dakota
this morning, mainly over and and east of Interstate 29, gusting up
around 30 mph during the morning before decreasing mid-morning into
the afternoon. High pressure will move in over central and
northeastern South Dakota today and Thursday keeping precipitation
out of the area and winds much lighter. Minimum relative humidity
will stay above 60 percent for most of the area, though south
central SD could see values down to 50 percent. Cold temperatures
will be sticking around through the weekend, with highs through
Friday in the upper teens and 20s to low 30s. There is another
chance for snow Friday into Saturday over most of the area, keeping
most of the ground in northern South Dakota covered in snow for a
bit.

...LOW FIRE DANGER...

Favorable weather conditions or a high moisture content of grasses,
and other dry organic material on the ground, indicate that the
probability of a fast moving fire is low. Outdoor burning under
these conditions can usually be performed with reasonable safety
precautions, but should be monitored.

The outlook for Thanksgiving Day afternoon...The grassland fire
danger index will reach the low category.
