...STRONG WIND GUSTS POSSIBLE SUNDAY AFTERNOON...

A strong low is forecast to track near the Cross Sound area this
afternoon. This low is taking a similar track to the storm that
brought the damaging winds to Elfin Cove earlier this fall,
though this storm is not as strong as that one was. Winds are not
expected to be as high with gusts to 40 to 55 mph possible
between noon and 6 pm Sunday especially near Cross Sound as the
low moves S to N through the area. There will also be an abrupt
wind shift with winds starting out E to NE quickly switching to a
W wind. The highest winds will likely be during and soon after the
wind is shifting direction to the West. A shift of the expected
storm track farther east or west could result in some higher or
lower winds than currently forecast.
