...A STRONG THUNDERSTORM WILL IMPACT WEST CENTRAL STARR AND
SOUTHEASTERN ZAPATA COUNTIES THROUGH 700 AM CST...
At 616 AM CST, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near
New Falcon, or near Lopeno, moving northeast at 40 mph.
HAZARD...Penny size hail.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible.
Locations impacted include...
Lopeno, New Falcon, Falcon Dam, Morales-Sanchez, Salineno, Falcon
Heights, and Falcon State Park.
This includes US Highway 83 between mile markers 780 and 798.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.
Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.
This storm may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio
stations and available television stations for additional information
and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.
If on or near Falcon Lake, get out of the water and move indoors or
inside a vehicle. Remember, lightning can strike out to 10 miles
from the parent thunderstorm. If you can hear thunder, you are close
enough to be struck by lightning. Move to safe shelter now! Do not
be caught on the water in a thunderstorm.
Persons in campgrounds should consider seeking sturdy shelter until
this storm passes.
