National Weather Service State College PA
117 PM EST Tue Dec 9 2025

Multiple layers of clouds will increase from the south and west
today as slightly milder air streams in throughout a deep layer of
the atmosphere. A few periods of light snow will spread across
primarily Northwestern PA this afternoon, accumulating up to a
coating in a few spots.

Highs this afternoon will range from the mid to upper 20s across
the north, to the lower to mid 30s across Southern and Western PA.

A potent upper level disturbance and strengthening winds aloft
will bring snow of varying intensity across the northern half of
the state late tonight through Wednesday. Elsewhere, much lighter
precipitation is expected, and could change to, or end as a brief
period of freezing rain or rain Wednesday morning.

Snow accumulations north of interstate 80 will range anywhere
from 2 to 6 inches, while locations south of the interstate
generally see a coating with up to 2 inches in the Laurels.

After the steady precipitation comes to an end, a period of snow
showers, some heavy at times, is possible later Wednesday
afternoon and evening across the western half of Pennsylvania.

Lows tonight will vary from the low to mid 20s across Central and
Eastern part of the state, to the lower 30s across the west.
Highs on Wednesday will range from the mid to upper 30s across
much of northern and western PA to the lower 40s in the Southern
Valleys.
