Rain will change to snow through the day on Tuesday across northeast Minnesota, with rain continuing through the day for northwest Wisconsin before changing to snow Tuesday evening. A band of heavy snow is expected Tuesday evening into Wednesday for much of the area with snowfall rates of more than 1 inch per hour. Snow will taper off from west to east Wednesday afternoon and Wednesday night. Heavy lake-effect snow will continue along the South Shore into Thursday. Travel will be very difficult in the days ahead of Thanksgiving. Winter Storm Warnings and Advisories have been issued for Tuesday into Wednesday night. .SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT... Rain and snow are expected to produce reduced visibilities. There is an 50 to 90% chance of gales to 35 knots and a 30 to 60% chance of gusts to 45 knots Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday night. The highest probabilities will be found along the North Shore from Silver Bay to Grand Portage and over the Outer Apostle Islands.
