Weather Summary for Iowa
National Weather Service Des Moines IA
305 AM CDT Fri Jun 14 2024

Today:

All is quiet across the state of Iowa as we move into the early
morning hours. Storm activity that brought hail to portions of far
southern Iowa Thursday evening has since drifted into Missouri.
Light northerly winds have helped to decrease humidity levels, and
temperatures have fallen into the 50s and 60s under mostly clear
skies.

Much of the day ahead will be on the dry side with ample sunshine.
Expect temperatures to push into the 80s this afternoon. A few spots
in central and southern Iowa my crack 90 degrees.

Tonight and Beyond:

Periodic chances for showers and storms return tonight and continue
into at least the first half of next week. The highest chances will
generally reside across western and into northern Iowa. Conditions
will be favorable for a few strong to severe storms, in addition to
a threat for locally heavy rainfall. Heat and humidity will also be
a factor Sunday through at least Tuesday as highs push back into the
90s. Heat index values may exceed 100 degrees at times. Overnight
lows in the 70s will provide little to no appreciable relief.
