Day 2 Fire Weather Outlook
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
0258 PM CDT Sun Oct 05 2025

Valid 061200Z - 071200Z

...NO CRITICAL AREAS...

No changes necessary for the Day 2 update with no broad fire weather
concerns across the contiguous U.S. See previous forecast.

...Pacific Northwest...
A thermal trough along coastal OR and CA will continue to promote an
offshore pressure gradient resulting in a northeast to east flow
across the Cascades Monday and Monday night. Downslope drying into
Willamette Valley and southwest OR will support localized relative
humidity minimums of around 15% Monday afternoon. East winds overall
are likely to be 15 mph or less, but speeds of around 20 mph in
favored Cascade gaps and exposed ridgetops, combined with low
relative humidity could bring localized elevated fire weather
concerns to the Cascades and existing area fires Monday and Monday
night. Fuels will further mitigate wildfire spread with ERC values
in the 70-80th percentile.

...Synopsis...
Fire weather potential is low Monday. The upper trough over the
northern Plains will lift northward as a second trough moves over
the central Plains. Flow aloft will remain fairly strong supporting
gusty southerly winds across much of the central CONUS. However,
increasing surface moisture and the approach of a cold front will
favor cooler and more moist surface conditions over much of the
region. Additional potential for wetting rainfall behind the front
and poor overlap with drier fuels should preclude fire-weather
concerns Monday.
