Day 2 Fire Weather Outlook
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
0153 PM CST Wed Nov 12 2025

Valid 131200Z - 141200Z

Modest west/northwest flow corresponding to a mid/upper ridge will
continue over the central/southern Rockies through Thursday. Weak
lee surface troughing along the High Plains in addition to the
west/northwest flow aloft should enhance downslope drying, but
enhanced winds should be localized within favored terrain gaps and
adjacent high plains east of the Divide, reducing larger scale fire
weather concerns across the central High Plains.

...Southeastern New Mexico/far West Texas...
More favorable meteorological conditions for wildfire spread will be
present on the leeward slopes and adjacent plains of southeastern NM
and far west TX Thursday. Sustained west winds of around 15 mph and
relative humidity below 15 percent at times will align along a
corridor of increasingly dry fuels (ERC values nearing the 80th
percentile), warranting introduction of Elevated highlights.

...Synopsis...
Surface lee troughing and limited boundary-layer moisture over the
central and southern High Plains will favor dry and modestly
breezy/gusty conditions during the afternoon. While locally elevated
conditions cannot be ruled out over parts of southeast WY into
western NE/northern CO and east-central NM, the overall threat
appears low.
