...PUBLIC INFORMATION STATEMENT...

Effective at 1800 Coordinated Universal Time on Friday November
14, 2025, the National Weather Service will change the flood stage
for the stream gage at Orick on Redwood Creek.

Because of this change, starting on Friday November 14, 2025
flood warnings and flood statements will reference the new
category levels. This change is a result of an evaluation of the
January 2024 high flow event on Redwood Creek, conducted in
collaboration with local emergency response officials.

The new flood categories will be as follows:

1. New major flood stage is 35 feet above Gage Zero. The previous
major flood stage was 37 feet above Gage Zero.

2. New moderate flood stage is 33 feet above Gage Zero. The
previous moderate flood stage was 35 feet above Gage Zero.

3. Minor flood stage and action/monitor stage will remain
unchanged.
