.DISCUSSION...

KEY MESSAGES:
- High Wind Watch has been issued for all of northeast Montana.

- The next clipper system will bring a wintry mix of rain,
freezing rain, and snow to the area on Tuesday along with strong
 west northwest winds.

- Sharply colder temperatures Tuesday night are expected with icy
 road conditions likely.

- Unsettled weather is likely to continue for the second half of
 the week.

WEATHER PATTERN OVERVIEW:
The next complex weather system looks to arrive on Tuesday with a
mix of rain, freezing rain, and snow. While highs are expected
into the 30s to 40s, ground temperatures, especially surrounded by
snow, may be cold enough to support some icing problems. This
risk may intensify Tuesday night behind the cold front when
temperatures trend sharply colder into the teens. Thus, a Winter
Weather Advisory covering difficult travel impacts from mixed
weather followed by colder temperatures could be appropriate
Tuesday into Tuesday night.

The High Wind Watch has been expanded to include all counties,
from Monday evening through Tuesday afternoon.

FORECAST CONFIDENCE & DEVIATIONS:
Blended HRRR for day 1 winds. Blended 50% NBM90 through day 3
(Wednesday 0Z), 30% NBM90 for day 3 night.

High confidence in high winds through Tuesday night - seeing an increasing
likelihood for gusts >60 mph (40-75% in SW Phillips, 40% in
Roosevelt). Issued High Wind Watch to match with neighbors.

.AVIATION...

LAST UPDATED: 0515Z

FLIGHT CAT: IFR - VFR

DISCUSSION: Mid to high OVC clouds are currently present across
the area. Prior to these high clouds, a low deck nearly on the
ground was spread out along the Hi-Line. The extent of this deck
is now obscured but is expected to continue impacting KGGW and
KOLF off and on through roughly 12-15Z. Timing is very much low
confidence and up for debate with no ability to see the full
extent on satellite until high clouds move out. Amendments are
expected. VFR clearing is expected this afternoon. Another round
of fog may be possible along the river valleys Tuesday morning.

LLWS: Low level wind shear is expected to move across the region
from about 14-18Z late this morning.

SFC WIND: S to E and light through early morning. Turning Wand
increasing to 10 to 20 kts around mid-morning through the
afternoon. Calming slightly to 10 to 15 kts in the evening.
