.DISCUSSION...

KEY MESSAGES:

- Strong westerly winds will continue through this evening.

- Red Flag Warning until 5 pm and Lake wind Advisory until
  midnight.

- Temperatures stay slightly warmer than normal with mostly dry
  conditions for next week.

WEATHER PATTERN OVERVIEW:
Today: Gusty winds behind the cold front last night will continue
through the early evening. Some chances for rain are possible
this afternoon with areas of weak instability along shortwave
disturbances in the flow aloft. Any precipitation chances will
fall as rain and be isolated to scattered. Breezy conditions will
continue tonight, meeting Lake Wind Advisory criteria through
midnight.

Monday onward: The flow pattern aloft becomes mostly zonal with
some indicators of weak ridging on Monday, then a pattern of
repeated shortwaves moving through the region. Chances for
precipitation increase after Thursday as a trough moves into
northeast Montana.

FORECAST CONFIDENCE & DEVIATIONS:
Blended day 1 winds heavily with GLAMP, day 2 winds with a blend
of HiRes models, and added PoPs for this afternoon. NBM otherwise.

Model agreement remains low and inconsistent for the systems
Thursday and Friday, and Saturday and Sunday. Models have been
hinting at frozen precip for several runs now, but are
inconsistent and changing heavily. While there is high
confidence that this trough will move through, there is lower
confidence on the specifics of what it could bring.
