.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 335 PM EST Wed Dec 10 2025

- Lake Effect Snow Friday and Saturday

The steady snow has ended as the trowal feature associated with
the cyclone has moved off to the east. Lake effect snow showers
expected to drop an inch or two of fluffy snow across the
northwest and southwest zones tonight in northwest flow.

Inversion heights lower as surface high with subsidence and drying
building in on Thursday, ending the snow showers and allowing
another cold night with temperatures potentially dropping below
10F if skies clear out.

- Lake Effect Snow Friday into Saturday

An arctic cold front arrives on Friday along with a shortwave
trough that raises inversion heights to around 10 kft, and we
expect lake effect snow to perk up in southwest to west flow
during the afternoon. POPS and QPF have been adjusted upwards
Friday afternoon into Saturday given onshore flow and strong lake
instability. Expect some areas to get 3 to 5 inches of snow before
inversion heights fall and snow showers decrease on Saturday.

- Arctic Air into Early Next Week

A vast area of arctic air pooling across northwest Canada surges
southeast by the weekend, with a lobe of the polar vortex reaching
Lower Michigan by Sunday. 850 MB temperatures plunge below
minus 20C and should result in high temperatures being confined
to the teens or even single numbers on Saturday and possibly
Sunday with wind chills approaching minus 10F.

.AVIATION /06Z TAFS THROUGH 06Z FRIDAY/...
Issued at 1132 PM EST Wed Dec 10 2025

Radar continues to show light returns indicative of very light
snow showers/flurries across the terminals. Conditions will be
favorable for flurries much of the night before drier air moves in
toward sunrise.

Short range models also show several hours of MVFR cigs from mid
morning through early to mid afternoon and then lifting back to
VFR. There is a wave of low pressure that will move across Indiana
Thursday night but the precipitation will remain south of the
terminals.
