...Gusty Winds Causing Blowing Dust This Afternoon...

West to northwest winds gusting 30 to 35 mph this afternoon over
east central IL is causing some blowing dust near some open fields.
Visibilities could be restricted to a mile or less at times. We had a
recent report from a trained spotter of a blowing dust plume near
Thomasboro in northern Champaign county along intersection of 1000
east and 2500 north. Also had a report of blowing dust southwest of
Danville in central Vermilion county between Catlin and Tilton.

Be ready for a sudden drop in visibility to less than a mile. If you
encounter blowing dust on the roadway or see it approaching, pull
off the road as far as possible and put your vehicle in park. Turn
the lights all the way off and keep foot off the brake pedal. Winds
should diminish late this afternoon and early evening reducing the
amount of blowing dust in the area.
