Issued at 1252 AM PST Thu Dec 11 2025 The current forecast is on track and no significant updates are required. && .DISCUSSION... (This evening through next Tuesday) WEATHER PATTERN OVERVIEW: High pressure centered off the SoCal coast continues to influence the southwestern CONUS this week. While the PacNW sees copious rainfall the Great Basin will keep dry and quiet weather in its forecast through the weekend. Zonal and northwest flow at times overhead will be light in nature. This leads to afternoon highs in the 50s over northern NV and 60s over central NV running about 15-20 degrees warmer than normal for December. This will continue to threaten high temperature records through the week. The next chance for precipitation will be early next week. The high pressure currently keeping a lid on the atmosphere finally pushes to the east by Sunday. An LPC and associated shortwave will traverse zonal flow from California through southern Nevada early Monday morning. Moisture availability, however, is low keeping impactful weather with the system minimal for the region. The gradient begins to tighten late Monday into Tuesday increasing west- northwest winds across the area. The tighter gradient is a result of a stronger shortwave currently forecast to dig further south into the Great Basin Monday night. Current model runs have better moisture availability associated with the system into northern Nevada on Tuesday and Wednesday, increasing precipitation chances. Right now best opportunity for rain/snow accumulation resides along and north of I-80. FORECAST CONFIDENCE & DEVIATIONS: High confidence exists in continued warm seasonal temperatures and high pressure over the area through the weekend. Less confidence exists in timing and amounts of precipitation next Tuesday and Wednesday. && .AVIATION...High pressure over the region continues VFR conditions at all terminals through the next 24 hours.
