.DISCUSSION...
(This afternoon through Saturday)

WEATHER PATTERN OVERVIEW: An anticyclone aloft will be centered
over Southern Nevada this afternoon and tonight. This upper-level
area of high pressure will slide southward Monday. A ridge of high
pressure will move eastward across the Silver State Tuesday,
before entering the Mountain West Wednesday. High temperatures
will be well above seasonal values each afternoon Monday through
Wednesday. Near record warmth is expected in Eureka both Monday
and Tuesday afternoon. The current record for warmest temperature
measured in Eureka on November 10th is 68 degrees, set in 2016.
The current record for warmest temperature measured in Eureka on
November 11th is 70 degrees, set in 2013. Temperature records in
Eureka date back to 1963.

An Eastern Pacific trough of low pressure will move eastward into
California Wednesday night. The surface pressure gradient will
tighten over Central Nevada Thursday, resulting in strong, gusty
south to southwest winds. Precipitation ahead of this trough of
low pressure will overspread the service area Thursday. Periods of
precipitation are likely Thursday night through Friday evening.
The majority of this precipitation will fall Thursday night. Snow
levels will start at around 8,000 feet Thursday morning, before
dropping to about 5,500 feet Friday evening. As the snow level
drops, rain will change to snow along passes and summits on
Interstate 80 and Highway 50. Highway 50 between Austin and Eureka
should receive the most snow. Three to five inches of snow is
conceivable on Austin Summit and Bob Scotts Summit. An inch or
two of snow is possible along Interstate 80 on Pequop Summit and
Emigrant Summit.

Much cooler weather is in store for Northern and Central Nevada
Friday and Saturday. High temperatures throughout Northern and
Central Nevada Friday afternoon will be around fifteen degrees
cooler than Thursday afternoon. Maximum temperatures across
Northern and Central Nevada Saturday afternoon will be six to
eight degrees below seasonal values.

FORECAST CONFIDENCE & DEVIATIONS: High forecast confidence
regarding unseasonably warm temperatures Monday through Wednesday.
High forecast confidence in strong, gusty winds in Central Nevada
Thursday. High forecast confidence regarding periods of
precipitation Thursday through Friday evening. Moderate forecast
confidence in accumulating snow on passes and summits Friday.
