Updated at 1238 AM PST Tue Dec 2 2025 * A storm system is expected today into Wednesday, with snowfall mainly confined to mountains of Elko County * Another very cold morning expected for Thursday * Light rain/snow showers are possible across Northern Nevada Friday through Sunday && .UPDATE... Issued at 1238 AM PST Tue Dec 2 2025 Current forecast is on track. No changes have been made to the current seven day forecast. .DISCUSSION... (This afternoon through next Monday) WEATHER PATTERN OVERVIEW: Impacts early Tuesday morning with snow showers beginning in Elko county before spreading into White Pine county by the afternoon. Accumulations will be mainly limited to higher elevations, with the Jarbidge Wilderness expecting another 4- 8 inches. Passes in Elko county can expect up to an inch and valleys are only expected to receive a trace to a tenth of an inch. Temperatures with this system will once again be very cold. Temperatures Wednesday night are expected to drop into the low teens and single digits again, assisted by clearing skies and north- northwest flow overhead. Additionally, conditions are being watched to determine if extreme cold criteria will be met during this time. Daytime temperatures are expected to return to the 40s by Thursday and 50s by Friday as upper level ridging builds over the western US, however Pacific energy riding the ridge is expected to continue sparking light rain/snow showers in Northern Nevada Friday through Sunday. FORECAST CONFIDENCE & DEVIATIONS: High confidence regarding precipitation through Wednesday and very cold conditions Wednesday night. Low to moderate confidence in continued precipitation this weekend. && .AVIATION... Look for VFR conditions at all locations through the next 24 hour period. -SHRA/SHSN will be developing during the late afternoon periods over KEKO and KENV terminals Tuesday as an incoming system dives to the south.
