Updated at 1206 PM PST Sun Dec 7 2025 * Quiet conditions with warming temperatures return Monday and Tuesday * Low chances for light showers across northern Elko county Wednesday into Thursday morning * Upper level ridging looks to be the dominant weather feature Friday into next weekend. This will lead to continued dry and quiet weather && .DISCUSSION... (This afternoon through next Sunday) WEATHER PATTERN OVERVIEW: Mid and high level clouds are streaming over northern and central Nevada this afternoon. An upper level ridge can be seen over the eastern Pacific at this time. For tonight, a weak disturbance will brush the far north of the forecast area with little to no precipitation expected. No impacts are expected. Overnight lows will be in the 20s. Monday through Wednesday, all models are depicting the upper ridge building off the west coast of the United States. This will lead to a west to northwest flow aloft over the forecast area. A weak disturbance will again brush far northeastern Nevada Tuesday and Wednesday, bringing light showers to this portion. Snow levels during this time will be well north of 8500 feet as high temperatures climb to well above normal levels during the day, reaching the 50 to low 60s. Some record high temperatures are possible, especially by mid-week. This will help to limit any snow fall to the highest elevations across northeast Nevada. Overnight lows will be in the 20s and 30s. Winds will be breezy across the northeast each afternoon with gusts of 30 to 40 mph. All models continue to show the upper ridge maintaining its position over the eastern Pacific through the end of the week. This will result in unseasonably warm afternoon highs through the the weekend. Readings will be in the 50s to even some low 60s. Lows will be in the teens and 20s. FORECAST CONFIDENCE & DEVIATIONS: Confidence continues to remain high with respect to current handling of upper ridging over the the southwestern United States. With the incoming mid-week weak weather system, confidence is high with respect to snow amounts with no impacts expected. However, confidence is moderate to high with the possible record high temperatures during the middle of this week. && .AVIATION... Look for VFR conditions to continue through the next 24 hours.
