Fire Weather Planning Forecast For Northern IL and Northwest IN
National Weather Service Chicago/Romeoville IL
439 AM CDT Tue Jun 18 2024

.DISCUSSION...
Today will be hot and humid with highs in the low to mid 90s.
Winds will be southwesterly at 10-20 mph with gusts up to 30
mph. Isolated showers and storms are possible this afternoon, but
coverage will be low. Wednesday will have another chance for
showers and storms, particularly north and west of I-55. A lake
breeze will develop late Wednesday afternoon turning winds onshore
along the lakeshore.

A backdoor cold front will move into the region Thursday bringing
a temporary relief to the heat, mainly across northeastern
Illinois and northwestern Indiana. The stretch of unseasonably
warm and humid conditions will continue through Saturday.
Afternoon heat indices will generally be in the mid to upper 90s
but will at times approach or exceed 100 degrees. The next best
chance for showers and storms will be Saturday and Sunday with the
passage of a cold front.
