Fire Weather Planning Forecast for West Texas/Southeast New Mexico
National Weather Service Midland/Odessa TX
202 PM CDT Tue Jun 18 2024

.DISCUSSION...

Min RH below critical 15% today over critically dry fuels from
Sacramento Foothills into Southeast New Mexico plains will lead to
elevated to near critical fire weather conditions. Increased rain
chances and below average high temperatures, along with good
overnight recovery Wednesday into Saturday, will lead to low fire
weather conditions into this weekend. A warming trend beginning
Friday will dry out fuels into next week. However, min RH is
forecast to remain above critical thresholds into the middle
portion of next week with light winds, so fire weather concerns
are low outside of fire starts from lightning in any storms over
higher terrain next week.
