Public Information Statement
National Weather Service New York NY
505 AM EDT Sat May 18 2024

...This is National Safe Boating Week...

National Safe Boating Week is May 18 through May 24.

The National Weather Service has partnered with the National Safe
Boating Council, a NOAA Weather-Ready Nation Ambassador to help
promote safe boating practices. The Council offers a wealth of free
resources such as infographics, videos, audio clips, fact sheets,
social media and much more. These resources can be found at:
https://safeboatingcampaign.com/resources/

During Safe Boating Week, NWS will send a Public Information
Statement and broadcast public service announcements on NOAA Weather
Radio All Hazards. Tomorrow will focus on National Weather Service
watches, warnings and forecasts. Monday will focus on what to do
before you go out. Tuesday will focus on fog, Wednesday on inland
boating, and Thursday on cold water safety. Friday will focus on
thunderstorms.

In addition to these Public Information Statements and public
service announcements, a News Headline link on our homepage
http://weather.gov/okx will take you to various videos and web
sites, highlighting additional weather and safe boating
information.

Finally, if you, or someone you know, have been in a weather-related
boating accident, please share your story so we can prevent others
from becoming a victim. When you write, please note that NWS has
permission to use your story and, if possible, let us know the town
and state you were in and the year the event took place.

Tomorrows topic covers marine watches, warnings and forecasts from
the National Weather Service.
