.SHORT TERM /THROUGH TONIGHT/...
Issued at 101 AM MST Fri Nov 7 2025

A cold front will arrive this afternoon. Ahead of the
front, we`ll see showers move through the region. This will mainly
affect the mountains and highlands where 0.10 to 0.25 inches of qpf
is likely today. Across the Snake Plain and Magic Valley, we`ll
likely see less than 0.10 inches and maybe not much more than a
trace. Snow levels with this system are sitting around 6500-7000 ft
resulting in light accumulations of an inch or two. Expect another
breezy day with gusts in the 25 to 35 mph range. A few gusts to 45
mph are possible across the INL, as well as upper slopes and ridges.
Most of this activity should end this evening with winds weakening
overnight. Temps today look seasonable with highs in the low 50s for
the Snake Plain and Magic Valley, while mountains and highlands
communities will see 40s.

.LONG TERM /SATURDAY THROUGH THURSDAY/...
Issued at 1200 PM MST Thu Nov 6 2025

The extended portion of the forecast looks mostly dry with upper
ridging in place for the weekend and the first few days of the
upcoming work week. Temps Saturday do look to run on the cooler side
of normal with highs mainly in the 40s expected although a few spots
near the Utah border may briefly climb above 50. H5 heights rise
Sunday into Monday as the ridge amplifies with above normal
temperatures expected for much of the upcoming work week. Mid 50s to
lower 60s look likely in valley locations for much of next week
with maybe even some mid 60s possible by mid-week. This is
certainly quite mild for mid November! No precip chances expected
until at least Thursday and even then, chances are still 20 percent
or less. Things COULD become a bit more unsettled Friday and into
next weekend with models showing the potential for a trough to dig
into the PacNW but we`ll see where things trend over the next few
days.

.AVIATION /12Z TAFS THROUGH 12Z SATURDAY/...
Issued at 324 AM MST Fri Nov 7 2025

Showers today looks mainly contained to the high country
and with that the lower mvfr ceilings. That leaves less than a 20%
chance of mvfr conditions for IDA, PIH, SUN, and BYI. DIJ has the
best chance of reaching MVFR conditions with upslope flow and colder
temps allowing for precipitation to more likely fall as snow. Gusty
winds are likely today as well with gusts to 30kts likely at PIH and
IDA. SUN may briefly become upvalley for a couple hours late this
morning or early afternoon, but once the front passes, it will
likely switch to west or northwest mid to late afternoon.
