Upper ridge continues to dominate the weather pattern early this week. A weak shortwave trough passes through the PacNW tonight bring some very low chances (<5%) for light rain and snow along the Oregon border. Patchy fog returns to portions of the Martis Valley from Boca to Truckee along I-80 tonight into early Monday morning. Other valleys may experience patchy fog around sunrise to mid-morning. Otherwise, dry weather with mild afternoon temperatures and chilly mornings prevails through Thanksgiving Day. A few breezes are expected this afternoon, especially for mountain ridges. Gusty ridges (30-40 mph) may persist into Monday behind that quick system. Under the ridge, afternoon temperatures slowly rise through the week with a little bump on Tuesday due to a more northwesterly flow behind the quick trough on Monday in the PacNW. Afternoon highs will be generally in the 50s across western NV, NE CA and Sierra communities. By mid-week, the lower valleys of western NV will be around 60. Morning temperatures will be around or below freezing through mid-week, then warm up to slightly above freezing late week over western NV valleys. Ensemble models continue to diverge on their solutions for this weekend. The latest trend indicates a low pressure system sinking into the Great Basin. However, the timing and placement of this system continues to change with each run. Therefore, details about amounts, magnitude and timing will have to wait until we get closer to the system by mid-week, when higher resolution data starts to come in. Nevertheless, looking at the current trend we should prepare for at least some gusty winds, light valley rain and mountain snow above 5-7 kft. -HC && .AVIATION... Generally VFR conditions are expected, except for patchy fog between 08Z to 18Z mainly for KTRK, but can`t discard other TAF sites been affected around sunrise in western NV on Monday morning.
