...FLOOD WARNING NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 245 PM EDT THIS AFTERNOON...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.

* WHERE...Portions of northeast Kentucky, including the following
  counties, Boyd and Greenup and southeast Ohio, including the
  following county, Lawrence.

* WHEN...Until 245 PM EDT.

* IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying
  and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Expect many
  areas of slow moving or standing water.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 1111 AM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges
    indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Between 3.5 and 5
    inches of rain have fallen. Flooding is already occurring in
    the warned area. Portions of Diederich Blvd in Russell, KY
    are still impassable due to standing water.
  - Additional rainfall amounts of 0.2 to 0.5 inches are possible
    in the warned area.
  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
    Ashland, Ironton, Coal Grove, Naples, Flatwoods, Russell,
    Raceland, Worthington, Wurtland, Bellefonte, Westwood and
    Hanging Rock.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Stay away or be swept away. River banks and culverts can become
unstable and unsafe.

Report flooding to the National Weather Service by calling toll
free, 800 401 9535, when you can do so safely.
