...LIGHT PRECIP FAR NRN CA/SRN OR TODAY AND AGAIN MON-TUE...
...STRONGER SYSTEM WITH ROUND OF HEAVY PRECIP EXPECTED LATE TUE
THROUGH WED FOR MAINLY NRN CA WITH LIGHTER AMOUNTS ELSEWHERE...

.METEOROLOGICAL CONDITIONS (SAT AM - FRI AM)...

Satellite/radar imagery show a band of clouds and rain associated
with a frontal boundary stretching across the PacNW to off the far
northern CA coast. Models indicate the front will push SE and
rapidly weaken over the next 24 hours. Light to moderate precip is
expected for the far north coast and southern OR Cascades with
totals around one third to two thirds of an inch and freezing levels
generally above 10,000 ft expected.

On Mon, expect a moisture plume and weak isentropic lift to initiate
light precip over far NW CA and southern OR with freezing levels
8000 ft and above. This pattern should last into Tue. By late Tue
into Wed, expect a frontal boundary and associated moisture plume
and trough aloft to phase with the initial moisture plume. This
setup is expected to bring a band of heavy precipitation across
northern CA before the front weakens. Only light precipitation is
currently expected for central CA and northern NV. Freezing levels
are expected to start off 9000 ft and above and ultimately fall to
around 7000-11,000 ft by late Wed across most of the areas receiving
precip. Timing of this system still varies a fair amount among the
models, and a WPC/NBM blend was used for QPF. Another approaching
front is expected to begin spreading precipitation to far northern
CA/southern OR by the end of the forecast period Thu night.
