Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Southwest Arkansas...
Northwest Louisiana...East Texas...and Extreme Southeast Oklahoma
National Weather Service Shreveport LA
426 AM CDT Sun May 11 2025

.DISCUSSION...
An upper level low pressure system will remain stationary across
Southeast Texas today, which will maintain areas of light rain
over the region this morning, before diminishing from east to west
during the afternoon. Rainfall amounts will be light, generally under
one-quarter inch. As a result, abnormally cool temperatures with high
min RH`s are expected today, before warmer temperatures return Monday
as this low pressure system begins to drift east into the Lower
Mississippi Valley. Thus, any isolated to widely scattered showers will
remain confined to Southwest Arkansas and portions of Northcentral
Louisiana Monday, before ending Monday night as this system lifts
northeast into the Tennessee Valley. Hotter and more humid conditions
along with higher humidity will return to the region Tuesday, as
temperatures climb to near 90 degrees. Upper level ridging will begin to
build over the area for Wednesday and Thursday, resulting in near record
heat. This ridge will weaken by late week, with more unsettled weather
conditions expected Friday afternoon through next weekend, as scattered
showers and thunderstorms return especially along and north of the I-20
corridor of East Texas and North Louisiana.
