Surf Zone Forecast
National Weather Service Tallahassee FL
1141 AM EDT Sat Jun 15 2024

.THE SURF ZONE FORECAST GENERAL OUTLOOK...

Late this morning, offshore buoys were observing 1 to 2 foot seas and
east winds at 10 knots, supporting a continued forecast of a moderate
risk of rip currents today. Such conditions are reflected on web cams
which show some surf, but nothing aggressive. Development of a
nearshore afternoon seabreeze will increase surf heights to near 2
feet, but these will be lower-energy locally-generated wind waves.

Surf heights and rip risk will increase sharply tonight and Sunday
morning, in response to development of a large area of moderate
southeast breezes over the eastern Gulf. Monday through Wednesday
will be characterized by a prolonged period of unseasonably strong
easterly breezes, which will keep the rip current risk squarely in
the high category. As such, a pre-emptive long-duration Rip Current
Statement was issued given our high confidence.
