.DISCUSSION...Skies will be mostly clear over the region today
with breezy northwest winds, especially across northwestern into
south central South Dakota. Winds will be at 15 to 25 mph
sustained with gusts of 30 to 40 mph across most of the western
South Dakota plains. Winds in southwestern South Dakota will be
lighter with sustained winds of 10 to 15 mph and gusts of up to 20
mph. Highs will be in the mid to upper 70s to low 80s. Afternoon
relative humidities will range from 20 to 25 percent.

...LOW FIRE DANGER...

The grassland fire danger index will reach the low category this
afternoon. Favorable weather conditions or a high moisture
content of grasses, and other dry organic material on the ground,
indicate that the probability of a fast moving fire is low.
Outdoor burning under these conditions can usually be performed
with reasonable safety precautions, but should be monitored.

The outlook for Friday afternoon, The grassland fire danger index
will reach the low category.
