Subject: Soliciting Comments through December 19, 2025 on the
Discontinuation of the Max/Min Temperature and Precipitation
Table Product (RTP) for all NWS Alaska Region, Eastern Region,
and Western Region Offices.

The National Weather Service (NWS) is soliciting comments on the
discontinuation of the Max/Min Temperature and Precipitation
Table Product (RTP) for all NWS Alaska Region, Eastern Region,
and Western Region Offices through December 19, 2025. The RTP
has previously been discontinued for all NWS Central Region,
Pacific Region, and Southern Region offices.

The Max/Min Temperature and Precipitation Table Product (RTP) is
a text product providing the maximum/minimum temperatures and
precipitation totals for a sub-state region, an entire state, or
a multi-state region.

The information in the RTP duplicates information in other NWS
text products, websites, and NWS application programming
interfaces (API).

Weather Forecast Office (WFO) local products providing the data
contained in the RTP product include:
- Public Information Statements (PNS) for summaries of
temperatures and precipitation during significant weather
events.
- Local Storm Reports (LSR) for event-driven rainfall and
snowfall reports.
- Record Event Reports (RER) for record event reporting.
- Climate (CLI) Text Products for routine climate reports.
- Daily Summary Messages (DSM) Automated Surface Observing
System (ASOS) Text Products for daily summaries of temperature
and precipitation from which the current RTP and CLI are
constructed.
- Hydrometeorological Data Report (RR3) for cooperative
observations.
- METAR Products (MTR) for routine METAR observations with
temperature and precipitation data.

Alternative websites providing the data contained in the RTP
product include:
- NOAA Online Weather Data:
https://www.weather.gov/wrh/Climate?wfo=xxx where "xxx" is the
WFO identifier
- NWS Weather API:
https://www.weather.gov/documentation/services-web-api
