...FUNNEL CLOUDS IN THE AREA...

AT 100 PM CDT...A FUNNEL CLOUD WAS REPORTED NEAR WESSINGTON BY A
TRAINED SPOTTER. THIS FUNNEL LASTED ONLY A SHORT TIME AND DID NOT
POSE A SIGNIFICANT THREAT TO PUBLIC SAFETY. THE ENVIRONMENT IS
RATHER UNSTABLE TODAY AND SUITABLE TO PRODUCING ADDITIONAL FUNNEL
CLOUDS...POSSIBLY EVEN A BRIEF LANDSPOUT OR TWO. DUE TO THE MANNER
IN WHICH THEY ARE PRODUCED...AS THUNDERSTORM CLOUDS DEVELOP...THEY
SHOULD BE WEAK AND RATHER SHORT LIVED. HOWEVER...IF YOU SEE ONE OF
THESE FUNNEL CLOUDS...AND YOU FEEL YOUR SAFETY IS AT RISK...TAKE IT
UPON YOURSELF TO SEEK APPROPRIATE SHELTER BEFORE CONTACTING YOUR
LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCY SO THEY CAN RELAY YOUR REPORT TO THE
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE.

CONDITIONS THAT FAVOR FUNNEL CLOUD FORMATION WILL EXIST FOR THE REST
OF THIS AFTERNOON. BE AWARE OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SEEING A FUNNEL
CLOUD...BUT ALSO BE AWARE OF THE MINIMAL SAFETY THREAT THEY PRODUCE.

CONTINUE TO MONITOR NOAA WEATHER RADIO OR OTHER MEDIA OUTLETS FOR THE
LATEST WEATHER INFORMATION.
