...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM EDT THIS EVENING...

* WHAT...Nuisance flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...A portion of piedmont North Carolina, including the
  following county, Rowan.

* WHEN...Until 1100 PM EDT.

* IMPACTS...Nuisance flooding of low-lying areas adjacent to streams
  and other poor-drainage areas, including farmland, parks,
  greenways, boat-access areas, golf courses, underpasses, and
  parking lots. Isolated, shallow flows over roadways is possible.
  A few flood-prone, low-water crossings may become impassible.  A
  small culvert washout or two is possible.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 509 PM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges
    indicated a nearly stationary thunderstorm is producing
    excessive rainfall. Rain gauges in the Salisbury area have
    already reported 1.5-2 over the past 30-45 minutes. This
    rainfall may be enough to quickly overwhelm storm drains and
    cause bankfull conditions on small drainages in the Salisbury
    area. Excessive storm runoff may be enough to cause rapid
    rises on Town Creek, Grants Creek, and Crane Creek.

    Areas of greatest concern include in the city of Salisbury
    and the towns of Spencer and East Spencer. Additionally,
    areas along Town Creek near E Innes St and Bringle Ferry Rd
    and Crane Creek near Corbin Hills Golf Club and Stokes Ferry
    Rd may experience nuisance flooding.

  - If storm-total rainfall amounts exceed 2-3 inches over the
    next 30-45 minutes, more significant flooding may develop and
    a Flash Flood Warning may be issued. Caution is advised near
    any stream or other vulnerable area. Seek higher ground
    immediately if streams start to rise. Please have a plan in
    place should flash flooding develop and do not hesitate to
    act.

  - Some locations that may experience nuisance flooding
    include...
    Salisbury, Spencer, Granite Quarry, and Faith.
