National Weather Service San Francisco CA
527 AM PST FRI JAN 20 2017

Santa Clara CA-Santa Cruz CA-San Mateo CA-
527 AM PST FRI JAN 20 2017

The National Weather Service in The San Francisco Bay Area has issued

* Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory for...
Southwestern Santa Clara County in northern California...
Santa Cruz County in northern California...
San Mateo County in northern California...

* Until 830 AM PST

* At 525 AM PST, Doppler radar and automated gauges indicated heavy
rain that will cause urban and small stream flooding in the
advisory area. Even after precipitation ends, urban and small
stream flooding will likely persist due to run-off.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
San Jose, San Mateo, Redwood City, Palo Alto, Santa Cruz,
Cupertino, San Bruno, Pacifica, Menlo Park, Saratoga, Los Gatos,
Burlingame, San Carlos, Belmont, Millbrae, Corralitos, Scotts
Valley, Half Moon Bay, Hillsborough and Capitola.

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, country roads, farmland, urban areas, highways,
streets and underpasses as well as other drainage areas and low
lying spots.

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded
roads. Find an alternate route.
