The National Weather Service in Pittsburgh PA has confirmed a
tornado near Renfrew in Butler County western Pennsylvania on

A weak EF0 tornado started at 947 pm in an open field just north
of Brownsdale Road then traveled east before lifting north of
Reibold road. Damage indicators used to rate this tornado
were primarily broken hardwood trees with one uprooted. A pine
tree along Reibold road was snapped three quarters of the way up.
Several outbuildings sustained damage to their roofs with shingles
missing. A soundboard to a natural gas well pad was dislodged and
landed on its exterior fence. The tornado tracked through a corn
field knocking down corn stalks.

This is the fifth tornado to occur in our forecast area this
season. It is the 22nd tornado since 1950 to hit Butler county
and the 11th EF0 tornado. On average our area experiences four to
six tornadoes annually. A breakdown of tornadoes to impact Butler
county from 1950- 2016 is listed below.
