Weather Summary for Puerto Rico
National Weather Service San Juan PR
343 PM AST Sat Jun 24 2017

Partly to variably cloudy skies prevailed across Puerto Rico this
afternoon. Doppler radar indicated isolated to scattered showers
and a couple of thunderstorms mostly across northwestern sections
of Puerto Rico. Isolated to scattered showers were also observed
across the Metropolitan area this afternoon. This activity is
expected to dissipate late in the afternoon or early in the
evening. Winds were generally from the east at 10 to 15 mph with
some higher gusts and the maximum temperatures were in the upper
80s mostly in coastal areas.

Isolated passing showers embedded in the prevailing easterly wind
flow are still expected overnight and early Sunday morning
over Vieques, Culebra and the eastern sections of Puerto Rico.
Although an upper level ridge will remain as the main weather
feature across the region on Sunday, locally induced afternoon
showers and thunderstorms are still possible Sunday across
western and interior sections of Puerto Rico. However, not
significant or widespread precipitation is expected as a drier air
mass will continue to encompass the region. A tropical wave is
expected to reach the region late Sunday night and Monday,
increasing the chances of showers and thunderstorms across the
local islands and surrounding waters.

Across the regional waters, mariners can expect seas of 3 to 5
feet and east winds between 15 and 20 knots. As a result, small
boat operators should exercise caution due to fresh winds. There
is a moderate risk of rip currents for most of the coastal areas
except for the east and west coast of Puerto Rico.
