Weather Summary for Puerto Rico
National Weather Service San Juan PR
402 AM AST Mon Mar 27 2017

Partly cloudy skies prevailed across the forecast area overnight
and early in the morning. Doppler radar detected isolated to
scattered showers moving from the Caribbean waters across Vieques,
Culebra and south central sections of Puerto Rico. Not significant
precipitation was observed elsewhere over land areas so far this
morning. Temperatures along coastal areas were in the mid to upper
70s under a south southwest wind flow at less than 10 mph.

Environmental conditions will remain relatively favorable for
periods of showers through at least Tuesday due to the proximity
of a surface low pressure and abundant low level moisture. The
low level moisture across the region is expected to erode rapidly
tonight and Tuesday as the low pressure system north of Hispaniola
moves further northeastward and away from the local islands. Through
at least Tuesday, continue to expect shower activity across east
and southeast Puerto Rico at times with afternoon convection over
and north of Cordillera Central each day. Soils are already
saturated, therefore heavy rains will likely to result in urban
flooding as well as rises along small streams and rivers. A fair
weather pattern with limited shower activity is expected by
midweek. Due to the southerly wind flow, warmer than normal
temperatures are expected this afternoon along the northern
coastal municipalities of Puerto Rico.

Seas of 6 feet or less are expected across the Atlantic waters
today as seas will continue to subside. However, another swell
will arrive by midweek with seas increasing once again up to 7
feet. A moderate risk of rip current is in effect for most of the
beaches of Puerto Rico.
