Bulletin - Immediate Broadcast Requested

The following message is transmitted at the request of the
Chugach National Forest Avalanche Center - 6 am January 13, 2018

The Chugach National Forest Avalanche Center
in Girdwood AK has issued a Backcountry Avalanche Warning.

Timing...In effect from 6 am today January 13, 2018 to 6 am,
tomorrow, January 14, 2018.

Affected Area...For Turnagain Pass and the Kenai and Western
Chugach Mountains in and around Eastern Turnagain Arm.

Avalanche Danger...The Avalanche Danger will remain at HIGH today
and is expected to last through the evening.

Reason...Recent heavy snow combined with strong wind have created
widespread areas of unstable snow. Both human triggered and
natural avalanches are likely on slopes steeper than 30 degrees.

Precautionary/Preparedness Actions...Backcountry travelers should
stay off of...and out from underneath slopes steeper than 30
degrees. Avalanches may run long distances. Avoid avalanche
terrain today.
Similar avalanche danger may exist at locations outside the
coverage area of any avalanche center. Check for
your closest avalanche center and to learn more about how to
learn about how to identify avalanche hazards.

This Avalanche Warning does not apply to ski areas or highways
where avalanche reduction measures are performed.
