...Isolated Storms This Afternoon...

Isolated storms are developing over the Eastern Sierra into
far western Nevada this afternoon. As of 2 PM, storms were mainly
between Markleeville and Mammoth, moving to the northeast at 20 to
30 MPH. Additional isolated storm development is likely through 5
PM mainly over Alpine, Mono, Mineral, and southern Douglas and
Lyon Counties.

Storms this afternoon will be capable of producing lightning which
may result in wildfire starts in dry grass areas. Very brief
periods of rain and gusty outflow winds to 40 MPH are also
expected with these storms. At this time severe storms or flash
flooding are not expected, however remain alert for possible

If you`re out on the hiking trail or one of the area lakes,
monitor weather conditions and radar to ensure you have enough
time to relocate to a safe area if a storm approaches. Remember
that a tent, canopy, and of course a boat do not provide safety
from lightning.
