HYDROLOGIC OUTLOOK
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE LA CROSSE WI
518 AM CDT TUE SEP 6 2016

...HEAVY RAINS POSSIBLE TONIGHT INTO WEDNESDAY EVENING...

A VERY MOIST SYSTEM IS SET TO MOVE ACROSS THE UPPER MIDWEST THROUGH
WEDNESDAY NIGHT. THUNDERSTORMS DURING THIS PERIOD WILL BE CAPABLE
OF PRODUCING LOCALLY HEAVY RAINS. THE MOST LIKELY TIME FOR STORMS
WITH LOCALLY HEAVY RAINS TO OCCUR ACROSS NORTHEAST IOWA AND
SOUTHWEST WISCONSIN IS TONIGHT THROUGH WEDNESDAY EVENING.

RAINFALL AMOUNTS OF 1 TO 3 INCHES ARE EXPECTED DURING THIS PERIOD.
LOCALIZED MUCH HIGHER AMOUNTS WILL BE POSSIBLE IF THUNDERSTORMS
PERSIST OR REPEAT AT ANY ONE LOCATION.

AT THIS TIME...IT REMAINS TOO EARLY TO DETERMINE WHERE ANY RAINS
IN EXCESS OF 2 TO 3 INCHES WILL OCCUR. HOWEVER...WITH MOIST SOILS
IN MANY LOCATIONS FROM A VERY WET MONTH OF AUGUST...RUNOFF FROM
HEAVY RAINFALL MAY BE ENOUGH TO CREATE FLOODING PROBLEMS.

AS DETAILS BECOME CLEARER...A FLOOD WATCH MAY YET BE NEEDED FOR
PART OR ALL OF THE AREA...ESPECIALLY LATER TONIGHT INTO WEDNESDAY
EVENING. RESIDENTS AND VISITORS TO THE AREA...PARTICULARLY THOSE
NEAR RIVERS AND STREAMS...SHOULD REMAIN AWARE OF THE HEAVY RAIN
POTENTIAL.
