Low pressure over northwest Minnesota spread a band of mainly
light snow across central Iowa, central Minnesota into northwest
Wisconsin during the late evening and overnight hours. Snow
amounts have mostly been a trace up to a slushy half inch.
Otherwise, skies remained cloudy across the Upper Midwest early
this morning. Early morning temperatures were mild for early
December with most readings in the upper 20s and 30s, but some
colder was spreading into western Minnesota behind a strong cold
The cold front will continue to push east across the region this
morning. The band of light snow will move into northern Wisconsin
while some light snow continues over northern Minnesota closer to
the low. Brisk west winds will spread across much of the region
behind the front. Highs for many locations will be early today,
with temperatures falling into the 20s by later this afternoon.
Brisk west winds will continue tonight. Cloudy skies and chances
of light snow are going to persist across the north, while mostly
clear skies are expected across much of Iowa and northern
Illinois. Lows tonight will be some of the coldest so far this
season, ranging from around 10 above in northern Minnesota to the
lower 20s in northeast Illinois.
A mostly cloudy, breezy and cold day is on tap for Wednesday.
