Weather Summary for Upper Mississippi River Valley
National Weather Service La Crosse WI
1045 AM CDT SUN JUL 17 2016

During the overnight...high pressure brought mostly clear skies to
much of the region. The exception was across southern Iowa into
central Illinois where thunderstorms continued. The overnight lows
ranged in the mid 50s to mid 60s.

Dry weather will prevail today across all but far southern Iowa
where scattered thunderstorms will remain. Look for high
temperatures in the upper 70s to mid 80s.

Then overnight a system in the plains will push showers and
thunderstorms across Iowa and southern Minnesota. Low temperatures
will range in the mid 50s to mid 60s.

The plains system along with a building ridge of high pressure will
then dominate our weather through Friday. Hot and moist air is going
to flow into the over through Thursday before a cold front enters on
Friday. Temperatures will rise through the 80s Tuesday into
Wednesday and then into the 90s Thursday. Heat indices will also be
on the rise with widespread 100 to 110 heat index readings on
Thursday likley.

There will also be a threat of thunderstorms area wide from late
Tuesday into early Thursday, with strong storms will locally heavy
rain possible.
