During the overnight, clouds spread over the region as temperatures
slipped into the 30s to lower 40s.
Winter weather returns later tonight through Friday night as a
potent winter storm promises accumulating snow, rain, and wind.
There is even a chance for freezing precipitation. Snowfall amounts
upwards of a foot are possible for some, with the highest amounts
extending from northern Iowa, across southeast Minnesota into
northwest Wisconsin. Winter storm watches and warnings are in effect
for parts of the region for tonight through Friday night. There will
be significant impacts to travel, so plan ahead.
