WEATHER SUMMARY FOR UPPER MISSISSIPPI RIVER VALLEY
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE LA CROSSE WI
1255 PM CST SAT JAN 31 2015

THE REGIONS WEATHER WILL BE DOMINATED BY HIGH PRESSURE PUSHING IN
FROM THE NORTHWEST AND A RATHER WET STORM SYSTEM PASSING TO OUR
SOUTH OVER THE NEXT 24 HOURS. THIS LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM TONIGHT AND
EARLY SUNDAY WILL BRING WIDESPREAD SNOW...SOME HEAVY...ACROSS
IOWA...FAR SOUTHERN WISCONSIN AND NORTHERN ILLINOIS...WITH AMOUNTS
TAPERING OFF TO THE NORTH ACROSS MINNESOTA AND WISCONSIN AS IT
ENCOUNTERS THE DRY HIGH PRESSURE TO THE NORTHWEST.

THIS HAS PROMPTED WINTER STORM WARNINGS FOR MUCH OF IOWA...ACCEPT
THE COUNTIES NEAR THE MINNESOTA LINE...SOUTHWEST WISCONSIN AND
NORTHERN ILLINOIS. WINTER WEATHER ADVISORIES WILL BE IN EFFECT FOR
FAR NORTHERN IOWA INTO FAR SOUTHERN MINNESOTA AND THEN INTO PORTIONS
OF WESTERN WISCONSIN...FOR AREAS SOUTH OF INTERSTATE 90. THE
NORTHERN HALVES OF MINNESOTA AND WISCONSIN WILL SEE LITTLE IF ANY
SNOW. ALSO LOOK FOR GUSTY NORTH WIND TO DEVELOP ON
SUNDAY...ESPECIALLY ACROSS EASTERN IOWA INTO SOUTHERN WISCONSIN.

LOOKING AT THE TEMPERATURES...THE HIGHS THIS AFTERNOON WILL BE IN
THE MID 30S ACROSS NORTHERN MINNESOTA INTO SOUTHERN WISCONSIN...THEN
DECREASING TO THE MID 20S INTO THE NORTHERN PORTIONS OF WISCONSIN.
THEN OVERNIGHT EXPECT LOW TEMPERATURES IN THE LOW AND MID
TEENS...WITH SINGLE DIGITS INTO NORTHERN WISCONSIN. THE HIGHS ON
SUNDAY WILL THEN BE COLDER AS TEMPERATURES WILL NOT RISE MUCH IF
ANY OFF THE NIGHT TIME LOWS.
