WEATHER SUMMARY FOR UPPER MISSISSIPPI RIVER VALLEY
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE LA CROSSE WI
325 AM CDT THU AUG 28 2014

HIGH PRESSURE KEPT THE REGION DRY THROUGH THE NIGHT...THANKS
TO A NORTHEAST FLOW OF DRY AND COOL AIR. CLOUDS WERE ON THE
INCREASE FROM THE SOUTHWEST...AHEAD OF A STORM SYSTEM THAT WILL
BRING SOME WET WEATHER TO THE REGION HEADING INTO THE WEEKEND.
THESE CLOUDS HELPED KEEP LOW TEMPERATURES IN THE 60S ACROSS
IOWA...BUT THE MERCURY HAD SLIPPED INTO THE 40S OVER NORTHERN
WISCONSIN OVERNIGHT.

LOOK FOR RAIN AND A FEW THUNDERSTORMS TO OVERSPREAD THE AREA FROM
WEST TO EAST THROUGHOUT THE DAY AS A SLOW MOVING STORM SYSTEM
APPROACHES FROM NEBRASKA. RAIN LOOKS TO BE MOST WIDESPREAD FROM
AFTERNOON INTO THE EVENING HOURS TONIGHT. WE MAY SEE A BREAK IN
THE RAIN FOR A TIME...BUT THEN MORE RAIN LOOKS TO ARRIVE LATE
FRIDAY AND FRIDAY NIGHT. RAINFALL COULD BE HEAVY AT TIMES...
LEADING TO LOCALIZED PONDING OF WATER...SO BE AWARE OF THAT
POSSIBILITY FOR THE NEXT FEW DAYS.

WITH THE CLOUDS AND RAIN...HIGH TEMPERATURES TODAY SHOULD ONLY TOP
OUT IN THE LOWER 70S. LOWS TONIGHT WILL RANGE FROM THE UPPER 50S
TO MIDDLE 60S. HIGHS ON FRIDAY SHOULD CLIMB INTO THE MIDDLE 70S
TO MIDDLE 80S.
