Low pressure will move northeast from Hampton Roads today. A period of steadier rain is possible this morning, before tapering to scattered showers and drizzle this afternoon. The chance for thunderstorms has been removed from the forecast. The chance of rain will further decrease tonight into Thursday, but a stray shower can`t be ruled out as the low will stall off the coast. Additional rainfall through tonight will be between one tenth and one quarter of an inch. East to northeast winds will increase this morning, sustained 10 to 15 knots with gusts to 20 knots. The winds will gradually subside this afternoon and evening. However, northerly winds will be sustained 10 to 15 knots with gusts to 20 knots on Thursday. Small Craft Advisories are in effect until 1800 today and from 0800 until 1800 Thursday. Low ceilings less than 1000 feet and reduced visibility in rain and drizzle will be possible today. Ceilings may gradually rise tonight, and definitely during the day on Thursday. Tides will remain around 1 to 1.5 feet above normal today before dropping tonight. No tidal flooding is expected through Friday. The current water temperature is around 64 degrees.
