Flood Statement

...A Flood Warning continues for portions of the following rivers in
Indiana...

  Muscatatuck River...White River...


.Lowland flooding continues across portions of central and southern
Indiana.  The White River crested at Elliston Tuesday afternoon.
These crests are at or slightly above flood stage, and the same is
expected at points downstream later this week. Flooding along
southern reaches of the White River is expected to end by Friday
evening. Elsewhere, flooding is expected to end along the
Muscatatuck on Wednesday.


Precautionary/Preparedness Actions...

Motorists should never drive into flood water. Turn around and go
another way. Keep children away from flooded areas. Recreational and
agricultural interests should remain alert to changing river
conditions.

The Flood Warning continues for
  The Muscatatuck River at Wheeler Hollow.
* until Wednesday evening.
* Flood stage is 18.0 feet.
* Forecast...The river is forecast to have a maximum value of 19.1
  feet after midnight tomorrow.
* At 20.0 feet...High water is noticed along the river.  Flood waters
  in a few backyards.  A few roads are flooded.

The Flood Warning is cancelled for
  The White River at Spencer.
* At  8:30 PM Tuesday the stage was 13.9 feet.
* Flood stage is 14.0 feet.
* Fell below flood stage at  5:30 PM Tuesday.
* Forecast...The river will continue to fall to 6.7 feet by Thursday
  morning.
* At 14.0 feet...Lowland flooding begins in the Spencer and Gosport
  areas.  The river begins to backup Rattlesnake, Fall, McCormicks,
  Limestone, Big, and Bean Blossom Creeks.  Spencer Public Access
  site begins to flood.

* At  8:00 AM Tuesday the stage was 18.0 feet.
* Flood stage is 18.0 feet.
* Forecast...The river is expected to rise to near flood stage after
  midnight tomorrow.
* At 18.0 feet...River approaching River Road north of CR 150 W in
  Greene County.  Some low lying agricultural land begins to flood.

The Flood Warning continues for
  The White River at Edwardsport.
* until Thursday evening.
* At  7:00 PM Tuesday the stage was 14.8 feet.
* Flood stage is 15.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...Rise above flood stage by early tomorrow and continue to
  rise to near 15.1 feet by tomorrow morning.  The river will fall
  below flood stage by late Thursday morning.
* At 15.0 feet...Flooding of low agricultural fields begin.  Daviess
  CR 375 WN and North River Rd in Knox County located inside the
  levees are flooded.

* Flood stage is 16.0 feet.
* Forecast...The river is expected to rise to near flood stage
  Thursday evening.
* At 16.0 feet...Flooding affects agricultural lands.

The Flood Warning continues for
  The White River at Hazleton.
* from Thursday morning to Saturday morning.
* Flood stage is 16.0 feet.
* Forecast...The river is forecast to have a maximum value of 16.5
  feet Friday morning.
* At 17.0 feet...Lowest reading available from the Hazleton Staff
  Gage.  Since the 1930s the White River has moved from the "old
  wellhouse" to several hundred yards from the "old wellhouse".  The
  river returns to the "old wellhouse" around 17 to 17.5 feet.
