Weather Summary for the Local Tri-State Region
National Weather Service New York NY
457 AM EDT Thu Jul 27 2017

As a weak cold front approaches, the area will see a chance for
showers and thunderstorms this afternoon and tonight, first across
the lower Hudson Valley and southern Connecticut late this
afternoon, then across Long Island and the New York City
metropolitan area tonight. Temperatures will continue their slow
moderation, but will still be a few degrees below average today.

The front should weaken and stall over the area on Friday. A few
more showers and thunderstorms may develop along the old boundary
Friday afternoon, mainly in or near the New York City metropolitan
area. Temperatures will be near seasonal averages, with highs in
the 80s.

It now appears likely we should see an out of season noreaster
late Friday night into Saturday, with heavy rain and gusty winds
expected, especially along the coast, and in and near New York
City.
