NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE PAGO PAGO AS
212 PM SST SAT FEB 25 2017

.SHORT TERM...
.TONIGHT THROUGH MONDAY NIGHT...STRONG UPPER-LEVEL DIVERGENCE
ASSOCIATED WITH A TROPICAL UPPER TROPOSPHERIC TROUGH (TUTT)
NORTHEAST OF THE SAMOAN ISLANDS WILL ENHANCE CLOUDS AND SCATTERED TO
OCCASIONAL SHOWERS AND ISOLATED TSTMS THROUGH SUNDAY NIGHT. GFS
MODEL SOLUTIONS AT 200MB SHOWS COMPLEX STRONG WINDS ALOFT EXPANDING
ABOVE THE AREA AS THE CENTER OF THE UPPER-LEVEL LOW STALLS NEAR
THE DATE LINE DURING MONDAY. GENTLE TO MODERATE EASTERLY WINDS
WILL PERSIST THROUGH THE SHORT TERM. THEREFORE...ANTICIPATE WET
WEATHER CONDITIONS AND STRONG GUSTS ASSOCIATED WITH TSTMS OVER THE
NEXT 36 HOURS.

.LONG TERM...
.TUESDAY THROUGH SATURDAY...DRY EASTERLIES COMBINED WITH A MID-
LEVEL TROUGH WILL GENERATE SCATTERED TO NUMEROUS SHOWERS AND
POSSIBLE TSTMS DURING THE MIDWEEK. FOR NOW...WILL MONITOR THIS
SITUATION AND PROVIDE UPDATES AS FUTURE MODEL RUNS BECOME
AVAILABLE. ANTICIPATE MODERATE EAST WINDS THROUGH THE LONG TERM.

&&

.MARINE...STRONG UPPER-LEVEL WINDS WILL TRIGGER TSTMS OVER THE
COASTAL WATERS THROUGH SUNDAY NIGHT. THIS SITUATION WILL HAVE A
SUBSTANTIAL IMPACT ON SEA CONDITIONS AS STRONG GUSTS NEAR TSTMS ARE
ANTICIPATED.

FNMOC WAVE WATCH 3 SHOWS GENTLE TO MODERATE SEA HEIGHTS THROUGH
THE MIDWEEK. AS A RESULT...NO SIGNIFICANT SWELL IS EXPECTED OVER THE
NEXT COUPLE DAYS.
