The late winter and early spring flood potential outlook for much of
the White and Wabash River basins in central and southern Indiana is
above normal. An above normal flood potential outlook means that
significant rainfall may cause extensive flooding in central and
As of March 3, stream levels in southern Indiana were above normal
while those in central Indiana remained at near seasonal levels.
Rainfall from February 27 through March 1 ranged from less than a
quarter inch in central Indiana to more than 4 inches in portions of
south central and southeast Indiana.
Lowland flooding quickly developed earlier this week in portions
of southern Indiana as a result of recent rains. Minor flooding and
elevated river levels continued Friday morning, March 3 in southern
Seasonal weather and little rainfall is expected through the weekend.
Rain will return early during the week of March 5. Stream levels may
rise again and additional flooding occur especially in southern
Indiana. Elevated stream levels may continue in southern Indiana
through March 12.
The 6 to 10 day outlook from March 8 through March 12 and the 8 to 14
day outlook from March 10 through March 16 indicate above normal
rainfall and above normal temperatures across Indiana. Additional
flooding is likely, especially in southern Indiana, during the middle
