NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE PAGO PAGO AS
213 PM SST MON JAN 16 2017

.SHORT TERM...
TONIGHT THROUGH WEDNESDAY NIGHT...SURFACE TROUGH OVER THE ISLANDS
WILL REMAIN NEARLY STATIONARY TONIGHT. SATELLITE SHOWS SUBSTANTIAL
CONVECTIONS TO THE NORTHEAST. RAOB FROM THIS AFTERNOON DEPICTS AN
UNSTABLE PROFILE. THE SURFACE TROUGH WILL MOVE NORTHEAST ON
TUESDAY MORNING. GENTLE SOUTHWEST WINDS WILL PERSIST TONIGHT
THROUGH TUESDAY NIGHT. A CONVERGENCE ASSOCIATED WITH A LOW TO THE
SOUTHWEST OF THE ISLANDS WILL SLOWLY SHIFT SOUTHWEST WINDS TO WEST
ON WEDNESDAY MORNING. WINDS WILL GRADUALLY SHIFT TO NORTHWEST IN
BREEZY CONDITIONS. THEREFORE...EXPECT NUMEROUS SHOWERS AND
ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS TONIGHT BEFORE BECOMING ISOLATED SHOWERS ON
TUESDAY MORNING.

.LONG TERM...
THURSDAY THROUGH MONDAY...THE APPROACHING CONVERGENCE WILL ENHANCE
SHOWERS AND MAINTAIN BREEZY NORTHWEST WINDS OVER THE ISLANDS
THROUGH FRIDAY NIGHT. THE CONVERGENCE WILL DRIFT NORTH WHILE THE
SURFACE TROUGH MOVES OVER THE ISLANDS ON SATURDAY. THEREFORE
EXPECT ISOLATED SHOWERS AND VARIABLE WINDS AFTER FRIDAY NIGHT.
